Valve releases Proton 8.0-3 for Linux and Steam Deck

Proton 8.0-3 is out now, bringing with it improved compatibility for Windows games on Linux desktop and Steam Deck. Here’s all you need to know.

These fixes were mostly all in various releases of Proton Experimental over the last few months since the release of Proton 8. Valve let you swap your Proton version any time in the Properties -> Compatibility menu, with updates from Proton Experimental eventually released into a main build like this. If you have Proton 8 installed, it will just show up as a normal update in your Steam Downloads.
